The restaurant was visited on Friday, 25th Feb 2005 in the evening.
The food ordered was: King Prawn Dhansak, pilau rice, plain naan, onion bhaji.
Quality of food
Superb quality! By far the best Dhansak I've tasted in Sussex.
Quality of service
Excellent! That said, I must admit that the people I was with had attended the same school as the owners.
Variety on menu
I'm a Dhansak fiend, I'm afraid, so I rarely order anything else (think of it as a base line comparrison). However, I always take a long look at the menu of any restaurant that I visit. The menu here was wonderfully varied and well laid out.
Decor & ambience
Here we reach the only 'black spot' of this review. The Akash has recently moved (just a few doors down) and has unfortunately opted for a very bright and breezy decor. Many of you will no doubt consider this to be 'no problem' but, personally, I have always prefered restaurants with low lighting, as this contributes to an illusion of privacy. It forms a pleasant cohesion of public and intimate dining.
Location
Easy!
Cost
In summary
Simply the best curry house in West Sussex. Friendly, efficient, non-intrusive service, a varied and intuitive menu, obscenely tasty food and a reasonable price. What more do you want?!
