Restaurant Reviews
Aladin (London, England)

The restaurant was visited on Thursday, 19th Aug 2004 in the evening.
The food ordered was: Poppadoms, chicken dhansak and sag paneer.
Quality of food
My meal was pretty tasty, far from the best curry I've ever had but certainly above average. The saag paneer was particularly good.
Quality of service
Considering we were a table of about 10 (booked ahead) the service was prompt and accurate. All the staff were friendly and even offered an occasional smile.
Variety on menu
There was the usual array of dhansaks, madras, vindaloo, balti, biryanis and so on with the additional of a few tasty looking Bangladeshi specials I've never seen before.
Decor & ambience
The restaurant was pleasantly busy - not too heaving - and simply kitted out.
Location
Aladin is right there on Brick Lane. If Brick Lane is handy for you, then so is this restaurant! Personally Brick Lane is a bit out of the way for me, so I marked it down a bit.
Cost
Aladin is pretty cheap - roughly £10 a head, made all the cheaper as it unlicensed with an open bring your own policy.
In summary
My understanding is that Brick Lane restaurants vary from terrible to spectacular. Aladin was somewhere in the middle. They coped well with our large number, the service was good and prompt, the food tasty and cheap, and no-one had cause to complain. Recommended at the very least as a safe bet.
